Budapest, Hungary – The Castle District

Towering a couple hundred ft over the Danube River, the Fort District in Budapest is a special place. Surrounded by gothic churches with stain glass, a visit to the Fort District is like stepping back in to the renaissance.

Citadel District

Situated inside Buda section of Budapest, the Citadel District sits around the eastern side of your Danube. Positioned a couple hundred ft above the Danube, the whole city of Budapest may be observed from the many vantage points. The view is so incredible, the Italians coined a saying, “Europe has three gems – Venice on the water, Florence from the plains and Buda in the hills.” The Italians surely got it correct.

Buda Fortress

Visiting Buda Fortress is like stepping back again into the heights of your renaissance. The Castle is adorned with red marble stairways, gothic facades, bastions and epic statutes overlooking the Danube. The fountains all around the Castle simply can’t be described with words.

Holy Trinity Square

Just towards the south of Buda Fortress lies holy trinity sq.. The Church with the Holy Lady, which is also known as Matthias Church, dominates the sq.. The church has served as the location where Hungarian Kings undertook their rule and a lot of famous figures are interred on the grounds.

Behind Matthias Church is the somewhat fascinating Fishermen’s Bastion. This Roman bastion has the appearance of a mini-castle at Disneyland. The views in the parapets are astounding as you take from the Danube River as it cuts through Budapest. Just outdoors of Bastion, on the other hand, you've to keep your eye out for some thing amazing.
